Studies have shown that when women use a doula, they are more likely to:
• be satisfied with their birth
• have a spontaneous vaginal birth
• feel more in control of their labor
These outcomes were significantly stronger when labor support began before active labor.
Women also report that they:
• feel more confident and secure in their
role as a mother
• have greater breastfeeding success
• have a lower rate of postpartum
depression
• have a more positive memory of their
birth experience
